Hi James,
Yep, the Pinpourelle AbsCircle device looks to be just another goofy exercise gimmick following the same marketing script as the Ab Circle Pro. Your wife will lose weight, but mostly just from her wallet.

Please share your thoughts about the pinpourelle AbsCircle device, which my wife has been led to believe will improve her fitness and weight… it just fits the too good to be true category in my mind. Plus, I seem to recall seeing similar spin devices that purported to achieve similarly amazing results.

Thanks for your comment Mikhail. You make a very good point and one that most people would be wise to acknowledge! No need to spend all that cash on gadgets and gimmicks when the best two exercise gadgets are your legs and feet! Keep up the great work!

By: Mikhail Sat, 05 Jan 2013 20:40:00 +0000 Out of curiosity , I have purchased this product to give it a try.

I weigh 140lbs and stand 5’6 tall before starting.

For a week, I only consume 1,400 calories per day, did 15-minute light resistance on this product everyday and only lost 1 lb (note that I take a cab everyday to work during this time).

I gained 1 lb during Christmas season (back to 140lbs) to try another test.

For a week, I still consume 1,400 calories per day, and did a total of 30-min walk @ 2.5mph speed (going to work and back home) everyday, and lost 2 lbs!

Conclusion: WALKING/RUNNING is ALWAYS BETTER (at least for me).

Hi Marge,
I am admittedly very skeptical of the Ab Circle Pro both in terms of its lack of objective proof of efficacy (e.g., scientific studies) and also the questionable marketing. The latter in light of the former is particularly disconcerting and tends to make me think little effort went into the design of the machine other than a trojan horse to separate consumers from their cash. In answer to your question, I would suggest not buying the product and instead opt for some regular stretching exercises about the hip and back region. It may be worth your while to consult an exercise physiologist or physiotherapist in order to get on a stretching routine to help mobilise the musculature around your joints. You may find this will alleviate your discomfort and will cost you a heck of a lot less! Best wishes! Cheers, Bill

By: Marge Sat, 12 May 2012 01:59:00 +0000 Interesting site.. !!! I was thinking of getting an ABC machine, not to lose weight so much, as to just give my muscles an “easy” workout, and make my lower back more flexible. The lower back flexibility being the main reason. A few years ago I had xrays of lower back and hips, and no arthritis, good ‘gap’ between discs. But a slight curvature of lower spine.
My question is, could this machine help, or hinder ??
I am 69… have recent slight hip pain that I think comes from my back. Would probably need to get that checked first, but still need to do something (not medication or operations 🙂

Hi Curtis, Thanks for leaving a comment, even if to disagree with my article. Congrats on achieving your results. I am curious to know more information regarding your weight loss. How many minutes per day were you using the machine? What other forms of exercise and/or physical activity were you doing in your day to day living? Were you also following the reduced-calorie diet that was provided with the machine? In many cases, weight loss stems from the diet (cause and effect) but it is coincidence that it occurred as a result of doing a few minutes a day on a machine which works an isolated region of the body.

Yours in health,
Dr. Bill

By: Curtis Wed, 21 Mar 2012 04:15:00 +0000 I have to disagree with this entire article. I purchased the Ab Circle Pro 2.0 and I have lost almost 20 lbs strictly from my sides and my stomach. This was something I was never able to do no matter how much I ran on the treadmill or did situps. This machine has done wonders for me.

By: Indra Sat, 18 Feb 2012 11:35:00 +0000 Hi
For the past two months I have been seriously contemplating on purchasing an Ab circle pro. However after reading your review Iam certainly not going to purchase this gimmick. So a BIG thank you to you in a very well written and researched article. I shall continue to do my sit ups and eat sensibly, rather than wasting my money on Ab circle.
Many thanks
